WEM - World Evangelism Mission developed the Missionary Training Center to equip people that want to serve cross-culturally among unreached people groups. Unreached people groups may live across the street while others live across the globe! We have networked with the best churches, missions organizations, and Bible colleges out there, therefore, it enabled us to come up with the most strategic materials we could find to train laborers to make disciples among all nations.
Did you know that 75% of missionaries leave the field before their first term?
Statistics indicate that quality training helps many cross-cultural workers become more impactful and remain on the field longer. Each WEM - Missionary Training module is designed to equip the head, heart, and hands of those who desire to serve cross-culturally. We have uniquely designed the missionary training school to impart the skills and knowledge needed to thrive, not merely to survive, on the mission field. WEM has trained hundred of missionaries to date. A recent study shows that 72% of training graduates have gone to the mission field and, once there, stay twice as long compared to those who do not first undergo this training!
We offer 3 separated or combined types of missions training:
Learn Anywhere.
Experience long-distance mentoring and cross-cultural training at
your own pace and in your own space through our flexible online
platform.
We have designed our training using best practices in distance and adult-learning methods that involve in-depth interaction with the material and provide space for individuals to personally grapple with every aspect of the missionary lifestyle. Our training school may be right for you if you are:
A high school or college graduate looking to get into or to further
their missions education.
A young professional and/or married couple working part or full-time
jobs but wanting to take the next step toward the vision God has
given for missions.
A family with kids that desires to practically learn how to live on
mission as a family either at home or abroad.
A retiree who has no interest in simply playing golf and gathering
seashells but wants to use accumulated wisdom and experience to
disciple the next generation to fulfill the Great Commission.
Missionaries already on the field sense that they lack training in
certain areas or want additional training during a furlough or home
assignment.
The online missionary training school consists of dynamic and Interactive modules/classes, which can be taken individually, or as an entire program. The modules cover different topics such as language learning and acculturation, church planting movements, personal and team dynamics, spiritual warfare, orality/storytelling, etc. See some of the subjects below.
While the modules stand-alone, each fits nicely into an entire study program for those who want comprehensive pre-field training, which is recommended.
Flexible Program Options
There is a lot of flexibility with the online missionary training.
Some people want a self-study program with very little structure,
accountability, etc. Others look for mentoring as they progress
through the training modules. These students are assigned a
Facilitator to check in with them via email, telephone, and/or zoom,
encourage progress, and provide coaching and feedback.
Work at Your Own Pace
Students work at their own pace and are encouraged to work through
each module in sequential order.
Each module includes several videos with response questions and a
few Bible studies relevant to the topic with approximately 12-15
hours of content.
There are articles and one book to read for each module as well as
response questions.
Students submit all work in the online system.
A part-time student working at a normal, average pace will complete
one module each month and complete the whole program in about a year
and a half. We encourage students to complete each module within one
to two months.
A full-time student could complete the whole program in six months.
Your path to the mission field...
For many, there isn’t a clear path to becoming a missionary long-term. You may wrestle with your calling, wonder what the qualifications are, or worry if you can make it financially.
WEM makes this journey easy by providing a clear path to a lifetime of gospel impact overseas.
Spend from 1 to 12 months overseas - All students are invited and encouraged to spend some time in the missions field. We call this Missions Internship.
During Missions Internship, you will gain competence in another language, learn to do ministry among unreached people groups, and learn to transition easily between multiple cultures. You can study in one of several countries, including some restricted access countries not listed.
How can God use you if you only have a few days or a month free?
You can experience Boot-camp training in our World Missions Center in Brazil or in any other country where WEM has missionary bases.
You will learn how to serve unreached people groups in the 10/40 window. Build cross-cultural relationships with different ethnic groups. Immerse yourself in a city, village, community to discover what long-term ministry could look like.
Every Missions Boot-camp with WEM is created to deepen your
understanding of God’s heart for the nations.
Whatever nation you choose, we’ll walk with you from beginning to
end. We provide quality training before you go, so you know how to
make the most of your experience. Long-term missionaries on the
field will mentor and encourage you as you invest in others. And
when you come home, we help you process the trip and see how you can
keep serving.

Here is a brief overview of what you will learn in
our missionary training program:
Students will initially learn about world missions and ministry calling. Here, individuals will learn more about church movements, how to reach the 10/40 window, discipleship, and their personal calling motivation for missions.
They’ll also have a close look at the New Testament and Jesus’ motivation for missions and how this applies to them.
Next, students will have classes on inner healing and identity in Christ, language learning and acculturation, intercessory prayer, and personal team dynamics. These are all fundamental learning that will help future missionaries succeed once on the mission field.
